Lymphoma

I have the sad news that my Dad, James William Garland (Jim) passed away on 21st May 2008 at 10:50 with my Mom, Cheryl, my brothers, Paul and Peter and myself around him after an 8 month battle against High Grade Diffuse Large B cell Non-hodgkin’s lymphoma (cerebral tumours). In Dad’s case the cancer was especially rare as he was only the 31st case in the world to have the lymphoma in the brain only. He was 60 years of age.

Dad’s Obituary can be found in the Birmingham Mail.

The funeral was held at Robin Hood Crematorium, at 2pm on Monday 2nd June 2008. Cortege left my Mom’s house at 1:30pm.

Family flowers only but we’d appreciate donations to the Marie Curie foundation as the Warren Pearl Marie Curie Hospice is where Dad spent his last five days.

My good friend Jenny Williams made a dedication to my Dad on her blog and was also kind enough to add Dad’s picture in memory of him to her bike ride around Lake Tahoe on 1st June 2008. Details of the ride can be found on Jenny’s Lake Tahoe Blog Entry. Jenny raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the US. If anyone also wishes to donate, please see Jenny’s Donation page.
